Iranians celebrating national Father’s Day

Iranians are celebrating the national Father’s Day, honoring their fathers and their important role in the family.

Iranians commemorate the national Father’s Day and national Men’s Day on the 13th day of the lunar month of Rajab, which marks the birthday anniversary of Imam Ali (AS), the first Imam of Shia Muslims.

This year, the day falls on this Thursday.

In Islam, people are urged to honor and obey their parents.

People in Iran take the opportunity of the holiday to give their fathers, grandfathers and husbands gifts to express their love and respect.

On the eve of the birthday anniversary of Imam Ali (AS), Muslim believers visited the holy shrine of Lady Fatimah Masouma, the sister of Imam Reza (AS), the eighth Imam of Shia Muslims, in the Iranian city of Qom on Wednesday.
